These photographs are the product of an independent study that I designed and completed during the second semester of my senior year. The objective was to create a portfolio of anything and everything that caught my eye in the Bottineau neighborhood of Northeast Minneapolis, including the physical environment and the people that live and work there everyday. Not being a resident of Bottineau myself, I did this project not with the intention of defining the neighborhood but exploring and understanding it as an outsider. The final product was displayed in July 2009 during a neighborhood artist open house in the California Building. The invitation and description can be found in the design section of this website. The entire photo collection can be found here.
